Tanzania is just coming from a shambolic electioneering period characterized by harassment and intimidation of opposition politicians, stifling of media freedoms and allegations of vote-rigging. Across the border in Uganda, the process has just begun, and we are already witnessing the government of the day using police and military officers to harass and intimidate contestants.

In this episode, we speak to Atuhaire Joan, a Ugandan social worker and political commentator as well as Ansbert Ngurumo, a Tanzanian journalist now living in exile in Sweden about political developments in their countries and what the future looks like for the East Africa region.
